River tourism is making a mark in the Indian tourism industry, for the first time a tourist cruise has started on the river Ganga from Kolkatta to Varanasi, this is a 14 day trip which takes the people to various places of historic and tourist interest.

The cruise which is an initiative of Inland Waterways Authority of India has a capacity of 50 passengers including the crew and has all modern amenities in the room, a dining hall and a relaxation area.
